As a kid growing up in the seventies one of the themes running in the back ground of my life was the troubles in Britain and Ireland. I remember clearly the murder of Mountbatten and Ross McWhirter. The slaughter at Horseguards bandstand haunted me as a kid for years. Terrible days.
Funny now it seems to be all over, i don't get any sence of relief or celebration, just a wave of sadness and feelings of waste. So many people died for nothing.
Ireland now has a florishing economy, the highest growth rate in Europe if i'm not mistaken. What a shame the success came so late fo thousands of people.
Maybe there's a few "modern terrorists" knocking around that can learn the Irish lesson. I doubt it though.
