My New Project

Post by snoopy »

So, I have decided to make a 1:93 scale remote control model of a virginia class attack submarine. So far on the project I have made a nose cone, which requires extensive work. I've also purchased some basic supplies, including PVC piping. (what I plan to be the main body of the sub) Anyways, maybe I'll make a web site or something about it... but I figured I'd see what you guys thought of the idea. If you have any reccomendations- or know of any stellar pictures of the details of the sub, lemme know!

Just out of curiosity, why did you pick the scale 1:93 and not say 1:92. It just seems a funny number.

I picked the scale based on PVC Piping- I could do 1:92, too- maybe I should, since that's a more standard scale size. I just had to make sure that the diameter measurement was at least 4", since that's the tubing that I've settled on. (The extra ~1/8" will be made up for with bondo/paint layering...) Either way, it's not going to be precise for there to really be any difference between 1:93 and 1:92.

Apparantly a virginia class has been tried before, and it didn't preform too well. Maybe I'll have to show them how it's done.

So, I backed out on the Virginia class, and now I'm getting into the design of a U-212 class german sub. It's actually pretty cool- fuel cell driven... It's a small boat, but supposed it does the job. Anyways- Once I get into full swing on the building of the thing I'll let you guys know- I'll borrow a digital camera somewhere and post some pics, too.
