After 5 years I finally threw together a new system.
After 5 years I finally threw together a new system.
Krom filled me in on all the questions I had, thanks again bud. I need to keep up with tech news more.
For 900 bucks I got the following:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego
1 GB Corsair Memory
MSI Neo4 NF4 Ultra Mobo
eVga GF 6800 256MB PCI-e Video Card
250GB Maxtor SATA (NCQ Babeh)
Fortron Source 400watt supply
I can't wait to put this beast together. It should put my humble AMD 2200+ Geforce 3 system in its place (the other room for listening to MP3s ).
I'll post some pics when I get the system together.

All Nvidia video cards are more or less identical except for the sticker, virtually all of them use reference boards made by nvidia, and evga uses reference heatsinks even.
Also, RAID isn't for everyone, when planning for a RAID you need to spend more attention on a case with enough HDD cooling since for pratical purposes RAID0 requires 3 hard drives not 2. Two for the RAID, and one to boot off of because RAID0 arrays have horrible access times.

What SATA drivers did u use?JMEaT wrote:New system is up and running! I'm writing this on it now. No problems except this probem with the windows bootup logo to stay black before fading in for about 4 minutes. Hoping a video driver install will fix that. COuld be a SATA thing tho. Any ideas?
Mine did this on my MSI Neo2 until I found a version it liked. It didn't like the ones from the nvidia site.
And sometimes it wouldn't even load windows at all.
