LCD Shoppin' (again)

Post by JMEaT »

Is there such a thing as an LCD that is good with fast paced gaming? (ala no ghosting)

What are the stats to look for in an LCD? ms response Contrast ratio etc.

Kthx. :)

Not yet. I think it's still a year or two away.

I have a 19 inch Samsung 930b that I like. It has an 8ms response time and I got rid of my 22 inch gateway crt it replaced. Been happy ever since. My brother got one as well and he is happy too. We are both currently playing the hell out of BF2 on it without any problems.

Actually, I've got my hands on a Compaq FP 7317 (17" LCD, but no idea what the refresh rate is...probably 25ms if I had to guess.) and from what I can tell it doesn't ghost at all in any game I've played.

I'm finding that my Samsung 930B is acceptable, but that there's a trade-off in image quality when things start to move really fast.

In most games it's really a non-issue, however you will see a little blurring around the edges. As Krom said, there's probably some time left before we see true gaming-grade LCD monitors.

My Viewsonic vp912b (19", 12ms) runs UT1, NFS5 and Call Of Duty great. Better color than Samsung's 19"/8ms too. (Forgot the model..) I used them both side by side on my game box. One was for a client, one for me, I kept the better one! ;)

When the 4ms'ers come out, that will be nice.
