Nope thats your problem right there, you've got too much ram and your processor is also too fast, I'm afraid you're going to have to downgrade.

D3 full works like a charm

it will work, you should also make sure to have direct x 9.0c

He has a radeon 9800 pro on a Nforce 2, D3 works with that combo. He might need to upgrade his video drivers tho.
