Hmm... there are a lot of the ones mentioned above that I consider phenomenal, but some of my own favourites...

Pink Floyd - On the Turning Away
Enya - China Roses
Bette Midler - The Rose
Madonna - I'll Remember; Oh Father
Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Counting Crows - Round Here
Goo Goo Dolls - Iris
The Calling - Wherever You Will Go
Queensryche - Silent Lucidity
Guns 'N' Roses - November Rain
Nirvana - The Man Who Sold the World (I know it's not theirs, originally, but it's an amazing rendition)
R.E.M. - Losing My Religion

Yeah, there are a lot, but that's pretty much all of the absolute best I can remember at the moment...

Lou Reed--New York conversation

I wish i'd written it 'cause it's whimsical and different. Somthing that's not been seen for a while, apart from "Tom's Diner" , but she probably nicked the idea off him anyway.

I've stood back from participating in this thread due to the word "perfect" in the OP. While I deeply love and respect many moving songs, there are flaws in each of them.

This little gem of electronica doesn't seem to have any. It's not as classy or powerful as some other music, but it's taking the math behind rythem and using it to make art.

Ballerium - Infected Mushroom
