Peer-to-peer?

Peer-to-peer?
I've been using Skype with a couple of friends of mine for local Internet calls just to keep my phone line clear. They both have DSL.

One of my friends gets "dropped off" about every other time. Anyone have problems that way with Skype?

Is there another peer-to-peer program that you would recommend?

Connection problems often surface when you do something that demands constant uptime with the DSL, have them check their DSL's connection quality.

Why not use a chat program like Teamspeak? You can host a server and have everyone join it and talk for free.

This seems to be a recurring problem with Skype. I've had it happen to me more times than i can remember. I usually can tell when it's coming because the other party fades out.

Unfortunately I don't know of any other PC VoIP applications out there. There used to be quite a few out there, like IParty for example.

Pity intel dropped that program though. It has its issues, but is extremely simplistic and easy for even the most novice user to use. The hardest thing for them would be editing the client.ipl in notepad to create a unique nickname. (Aren't you people glad I introduced it to kali? ;))
