IEEE 1394 card and laptops

I have recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite M35X laptop and am looking into some golfswing analysis software that requires a IEEE 1394 firewire card.

I am familliar w/ desktops, but laptops are new to me.

Can I install one internally or externally?

Well do I feel dumb. I looked at the specs and looked at the laptop again and there's one there. I went on line earlier to look at a pic of the port but it didn't look like the one I have. But it's definitely a 1394.

Sorry!

You might have the 'mini' firewire port on your laptop. It would just have 4 pins for data where desktops mostly have the larger connector.

Your correct, there are only pins.

I want to hook up a camcorder so I assume I'll need a 4 pin connection at the camera also?

Yes, 4 pin to 4 pin to hook up the Mini DV Camcorder

6 Pin is for devices that do not have their own power
