We all know by now New Orleans is going to be hit Monday morning by a uber hurricane. Winds now are at 160 miles per hour.
Just out of curiosity I went to NOAA website and entered New Orleans to see what they say and got this:
"Monday: Occasional rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High near 86. Windy, with a northeast wind between 85 and 90 mph becoming calm. Winds could gust as high as 125 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%."
Gotta wonder at who is manning the forcast booth eh?
Gotta wonder about NOAA
Hehe, that's the same type of wording they use to describe a balmy 70-degree day with a slight chance of showers and a small breeze. Thankfully, the National Hurricane Center's site (http://www.nhc.noaa.gov) actually explains the severity of the situation.
Heh, now it is:
Tonight: Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after 1am. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 81. Windy, with a northeast wind 25 to 30 mph increasing to between 50 and 55 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Monday: Occasional rain and possibly a thunderstorm. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. High around 86. Windy, with a north wind 75 to 80 mph decreasing to between 55 and 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
Even though the eye of a cat 5 hurricane is now predicted to bulls eye New Orleans.
