I need more games LIKE Descent 1, 2 and 3! No Freespace

Hey guys! I was on Planet Descent and Im tryin to find some more games close to descent 3. I dont want any Descent 4 junk, I have heard enough of that. Does anyone know any games like descent 3 that are worth Playing besides forsaken?

If you're prepared to fiddle a bit to make it work (it's a DOS game) then there's Terminal Velocity. It's not like Descent as such (at best, you can describe it as Descent 3 in reverse: instead of running around in tunnels and going outside occasionally, you spend most of your time outside and only go in tunnels, most of which share the same basic design, occasionally) but it's still a lot of fun. Oh, and the music kicks ass as well.

Radix: Beyond the Void

its more of a dos game but it can be run from windows.
it came before descent one.
it is a lot faster paced than any of the descents.
goto dosgamesarchive.com to download it.
it is compatible with kali on ipx and it can be played over modem and tcp/ip if you want.
this would be the 2.0 remix shareware.
it plays multiplayer on it too.
go get it.

Yeah, I played the demo of that a while back. Truth be told, I wasn't impressed - Descent handled the concept much better.

It also didn't come first; Radix was released in November 1995, while Descent 1 (full) was released in May of that year. Which makes it more or less a knock-off, albeit not a particularly good one from memory.

well youre not there, dammit!
the 2.0 verions has new weapons and more bug fixes and finds.
2.0 also deletes a cheat code: the hover code
why?
you are not always moving anymore
the radix has been completed.
the prototype outdated
you can hover.
but you still cannot pitch straight up or down.
one of the levels had an add-on and theres a whole new level 8.
features the "obelisk of death"
a laser that instaRAPES you.

ok fine. only instareaps you.
the worse versions were made to where you were always moving even if you didnt touch the controller.
this one you can hover and stuff.

I played a Descent 3 clone, called Terracide. It's Direct3D powered, and damned ugly

. But it's fun!
(I loved the howling sound of the ship's engine

Descent2 is still the best hehe I'm a an ole skool bloke

Descent3 misses things from Descent 2 like the Phoenix cannon, that cannon is great fr shooting around corners and the Helix Cannon great for clearing large rooms.

The levels design of Descent3 is also totally different to that of 1 and 2 thught it does look very good, but the thing I mis mostly is the PyroGX + Teh Cockpit!

I must say that Pyromania does make Desent3 look alot better with the PyroGX from Descent4

the nice 1500 polygon one

that does give D3 a better look also, but still the feeling is different but the storyline is very good however.

still sad

that DescentIV:Invasion isn't gonna come, I really have wondered what the game and the storyline would of been like.

Has anyone read the Descent Novels yet, if so how are they like?
