Unlike other video games though, the Halo universe has PLENTY of material and story for Hollywood to use instead of coming up with their own crap ideas. As a matter of fact, Microsoft and Bungie got the story on LOCKDOWN and are giving the movie studios VERY little leeway on what can be done in the movie. In other words, they are making sure Hollywood doesn't "suckatize" their movie.

I have played Halo 1 (PC version) and have really liked it, say what you want. It was good, solid 1st person shooter action, and way more exciting than DOOM3 (ok, you cannot really compare these games in this regard, as D3 has no gameplay ... har, har).
If Peter Jackson exec produces the Halo movie ... well, I would at least rent the DVD once its available and watch it at home.

on the one hand, i hope this means that this will show people that video game movies do not NEED to be bad.
on the other, I don't like that this is getting special treatment, just because, well, its microsoft and they got the money to spend.
and the two other halo's were rushed and were worthless singleplayer. but let's not get into that argument, again.

Well yeah, I decided Doom 3 had totally sucky gameplay not to far into the game, but I still beat it a couple times. Later I spent longer then I should have lazly modding most of the weapons in the game and some rather unexpected results came from that, now the the weapons actually work and different guns work better in different situations rather then only the shotgun or the chainsaw when you stick it in someones eye. It has real gameplay value now.Diedel wrote:I have played Halo 1 (PC version) and have really liked it, say what you want. Hmmmmm, when I posted earlier I didn't quite remember who Peter Jackson was. Actually this could be done VERY VERY WELL. Since Jackson is a fan from what I understand, it is being made in New Zealand from what I've read on another website and apparently his wife is in on it too.
Now, if they follow just the game, the movie has a very good chance that it will suck. BUT, if they do it right, they will base it more on the books and story revolving around the Halo game and not just the tid bits portrayed in the game. So, here is hoping the title to the first Halo film is: The Fall Of Reach.
I would absolutly love to see a movie made out of that book.
So it is either way for me.

I got an even better idea! How bout Hollywood creates a movie NOT based on anything at all!?!? It's great, producers can come up with something called "an original idea" to make the base for the movie and then branch off of it with OTHER original ideas to supplement the aforesaid!
Oh wait, what was I thinking. Originality died long before humans had the capability to be entertained.

Hollywood sucks and so too will this movie. Alas, they think there's low viewership and attendees of movie theatres because of poor marketing (not to mention the "billions of dollars" lost in the plague of piracy!) so instead they still put out the same crappy movies but turn up the volume a bit louder when they roll the previews.
Face it, they no longer view us as people, only as a demographic they must match up to statistically predict and generate profits, hence one cookie cutter movie after another.

I still say it depends on how much space Bungie and Microsoft gives them and if they follow the books as apposed to the game. If they follow the books it will be one kick-ass film. Never judge a book by its cover.
Halo had an excellent plot line and the games really didn't do it any justice. You only see snippets of what the story is about.
What really pissed me off with Halo 2, is that they didn't follow the books. In the books it has a much larger set of main characters. Not just, Master Cheif and his companion AI. Supposedly a lot of the characters you thought were dead should have shown up in Halo 2. :\ I never did get a chance to read the third book. A friend spoiled that part for me and when I played the game, I was sad to see that they didn't even follow it.
