I'm supposed to be doing a school project on the history of game modding, but there are zero books/articles that I can find. If you know of any, please post, any help would be greatly apperciated. And you get mentioned in the bibliography/credits

(A personal account would be great too if you have a lot of knowledge on the subject but no article)

I remember doing school projects on sh|t like "The plants found in the mountains", or a book report on Grapes of Wrath.

When the hell did game modding become a point of discussion worthy of a school project?

Mayby cus he is in a school for game design? :)

I suggest you go out to some modding forums and get some research materials there. A good place to start would be a very good modding tutorial hub such as http://www.3dbuzz.com and start asking there.

Given id Software's early willingness to provide source code and other necessary information and software to potential modders, David Kushner's "Masters of DooM: How Two Guys Created an Empire and Transformed Pop Culture" might be a good source.
