Best Modern Sci-Fi
Best Modern Sci-Fi
Ok, Lets do this all formal like.
There are lots of great Sci-Fi shows out there, but given the Thread below, I've put forth these choices.

i've only really fully watched Battlestar Galactica and Startrek. Years ago i watched only the first few episodes of Babylon 5. And i guess i've seen a few complete episodes of Stargate, it seems rather B grade, i see a lot of bits of it while surfing channels but never really bother watching it more than a few minutes - as i said, it seems rather low grade sci-fi.
And i've never seen ANY of firefly at all.
sooo, i can't really vote. Who cares what the BEST is anyway. Only that comic store owner nerd from the Simpsons.

I beg to differ. At least none with sound plots anyway.Duper wrote:There are lots of great Sci-Fi shows out there,
Voted for BSG, although truth be told I'm not sure just how good B5 was. Would probably be close.
Firefly I only saw one or two episodes of. Was fairly well done, but the plots were ... uhm, not really as interesting as I would like. Unfortunately. Other than that it seemed fine.
Stargate is usually fairly solid, but compared to BSG it has little coherence ... and isn't quite thought out as well, and isn't quite as believable.
And, I have to say, doesn't look quite as good.
Star Trek had its ups and downs - and the plot was not always strong. Visual effects were typically its strong suit, but that's hardly surprising. Generally watchable though.

I voted Battlestar because it's some of the best sci-fi I've seen on TV apart from those rare miniseries of substance like the remake of Dune awhile ago.
Firefly has one kickass theme song but the show itself just doesn't hold my interest. It's rather hard to come in at the middle and just pick up what's going on. I understand that Battlestar is hard to pickup in the middle as well but at least the characters on Battlestar are interesting people.
Stargate used to be a decent show. It was never all that coherent or solid as I would've liked but until reccently it was definitely worth watching. Then O'neil left the show to be replaced by a couple of Farscape rejects and the writers seemed to stop trying.

As much as I love Stargate SG-1, its steadily going downhill ever since the season seven finale. However it is starting to rebound since they introduced Ben Browder. (formerly of Farscape fame) Stargate Atlantis, however is still on its way up to the top. However its still outclassed by Firefly, Farscape, and neo-BSG. Star Trek has taken a steep nosedive ever since Voyager came into being, so that definitely does NOT get my vote. So given the current poll choices, that leaves Firefly or neo-BSG. Given I love both, I can't really pick between the two.
