That jiff has been around probably a good percentage of your life on this planet. Changing it now because you think it's "outdated" or whatever is like changing the Constitution because it isn't suited for todays lifestyle.

Minimal change:
the bottom letters could be broken away from the original gif for a faster download. This could also allow a better quality image at the same 50kb file size. What would happen is i rebuild the model and match the exact 'look' that the old one has. It will be exported at 60fps to a high res 800x600 mov file, then imported to image ready to control the pixels, color, frame rate, and file size. Aiming for a 50kb file i'll get an image that could be anywhere from 5 to 10 percent better... most people wont even know it was changed, but it wont be a wasted effort.

TOTAL MAX OMFG change:
The design is good but it screams "OOooo look. 3d." The only 3 things that tie this image to the game is the name 'descent,' illusion of space, and font design.
Changing it would be fun! I know it's been up for a long time, but wasn't it's original purpose to be the first thing you see when you type descentbb.net? How about showing something that will look about the same, but grab your attention up to the point where you want to just stare at it?

If i really donâ??t need permission to make a few examples i can just start making stuff. But this logo doesnâ??t hurt or help the performance or love projected by fans on this page. Itâ??s just another picture made by a fan trying to make their favorite page a little better.

I say we see the final product then decide. Frankly, I never look at it, always go right to the index, but when I do go through, it would be nice to look at something thats not so grainy (doesn't help that it was stretched beyond its actual resolution, which makes it look really bad, wkofi does that anyway?), and its not a crime against humanity to update things once in a while. Honestly, if I were in charge, I'd archive this phpbb and impliment a new more powerful forum software and overhaul all the graphics. But then, thats me. Theres nothing wrong with keeping up with the times, ya know.

Yeah I think a better approach with this bunch would be to show them what you are talking about....They are like a bunch of rabid conservatives around here when it comes to the look and feel of the board. If you WOW them it might be different. And if they don't like it, well....you had fun making it

For instance, they didn't go to phpbb for the longest time because of the look of the board.....just an example.

i'm glad that at least one mod agrees. But i like how this page runs! i like that one day i could post all day long on my cell phone, while im on the craper, in an airplain. Ya know? It's rare to find a page that dosn't update it's code to keep visitors (unlike deviantart.com that updates it's code every day). I will make a few examples but i can't post them until i know i wont get sued for changing a logo.

), I also believe change is good. If you got a better idea, by all means, show us. I kinda always thought a spinny 3d text thing was kinda boring myself.

It needs more lazor beams and super death rays and peeeooow peeeoow sounds.

I think I'll start making some sketches this weekend and start planing diffrent gifs i could make. I have 2 cool ideas, a cute one, and one really funny one.

My bookmark points to the forum index, and whenever I'm at school I always take the time to type in the /phpbb/login.php bit right after the domain name. So its safe to say its exceedingly rare that I see that image

As far as changing it, I'd at least be curious to see what you can come up with before saying yes or no to change the image I never look at

I would like a mod where you can ban a specific user's post. And by default it should come with a setting for Mobius for everybody.
