Music lock-up

Post by woodchip »

Playing music CD's on win xp through mobo internal sound controls. Music periodically stops and comp. locks also...then resumes playing. Don't know if it is CD player, or windows media player. Any suggestions?

Did you try playing the disk in another player? Check for driver updates?

Old player ? May have a hard time reading a CD. If you use digital transfer (XP default IIRC) and the player gets stuck reading over a scratch eg. it may lock the comp until either the player catches on or a timeout happens. Just a guess tho. If the player is old getting a new one may be the quick & cheap solution.

May be the player as I copied The songs to the hard drive and they now seem to play O.K.

I didn't have the plug that goes from your DVD Drive to my sound card plugged in, and my sounds was all glitchy once, so you might check that..

or if iti s a 4x player, that might be your problem :P

Thenior: that's for analog output, not digital.

Not to mention that even a 1x drive would work fine for playing an audio CD. I know because I've done it for longer than Thenior has had an internet connection.
