WMP10 find album info

Post by ccb056 »

Before I reformatted my hard drive, WMP would always find the cd and songs on the cd when I played it, it would show titles and the Album name.

Now it doesn't. I don't know why. These are original cds that have worked in the past but now WMP10 sin't able to 'recognize' them. I can play them just fine, but it doesnt display any information. When I click on 'find album info' it goes to another site and is able to recognize the album, but when I click finish, it goes back to the 'now playing' page and the information hasn't changed.

Insert generic non-helpful suggestion to switch media players here.

Only have 9 on this computer, but check the Privacy options. There's an option to look up data for your CDs/DVDs in there. I'd expect it's still lurking in there in 10. Just make sure it's checked. If it's already checked, no idea. :?

Winamp for audio. CCCP/MPC for video.

Winamp can do freedb lookups on CDs.

No idea, ccb. :( "Display media information from the Internet" should be the proper option you'd need, and it's obviously selected. And you can get information if you request it.

I don't see why it would be this, but have you made any changes to your firewall lately? Really haven't had any problems with my WMP, certainly nothing like that. :?

I don't have a software firewall, just a hardware (router with spi)

Half the time I reformat the partition, it works, the other half it doesnt.

I think I'll have to answer with "WMP10 hates you". Or maybe it's Windows. In any case, Bill Gates probably has a back door into Windows and is having fun breaking things for people. ;)

Maybe someone else has some ideas. (Other than "don't use WMP". I'm sure he's aware of other options. WMP actually isn't that bad, IMO.)

whats funny is this is a prime example of insanity: expecting a different result using the same process

I reformated the exact same way every time, however, half the time WMP does this

DRM gone wild? Hmm uninstall WMP 10, clear downloaded update files folder... get a new dl of wmp 10 at windows site. I prefer 9 over the advertising in 10.

Re install direct x?

Take a look at Divx and install their codecs.

Hope this helps.
