Just an opinion

Post by TigerRaptor »

This is just an opinion but since the DBB is going through a few minor updates. Why not do away with the For the D3 Dev Team forum since Outrage is dead. Also why not combined the Descent Old Skool forum with the Descent Single Player forum. Just seems like the Single Player forum is getting less and less popular now a days.

First idea sounds good. As for merging the Old School forum with the Single Player forum, might be a problem trying to get both topics covered in one place.

I don't really see how the Old Skool and Single Player forums really fit together in any way. Even if SP doesn't get much activity, it still serves a purpose that is separate from those of the other forums. There's no harm at all in leaving it as it is. As a side note, the SP forum at PD still gets a lot of activity; if we want posts in that forum, maybe we should stop scaring away so many n00bs. :P

As for the D3 Dev Team forum, it pains me to say it, but it really isn't serving any purpose at all. Kevin's never going to come back and magically release the finished 1.5 patch, and we'll never get to see Mobius eat his hat. Personally, I'd think that keeping it around in some sort of archived format would be preferable to outright deleting it, but it doesn't really affect me either way.

We should so knick the D3 Feedback Forum because the Outrage response is as good as dead. I too don't understand a merge between Old Skool and Single Player anymore than Old Skool and Multiplayer. The intent of Old Skool is to give the D1/D2 junkies a place to hang their coats, whereas Single Player and Multiplayer cover all 3 games.

shouldn't mods for D3 be posted in the D3 developemnent forum?

Some stuff "fairly recently" has been posted in Multi.
That being valid or not (as I don't really care); my point is: Is there other reasonable uses for the D3 Dev forum than "waiting to hear from Kevin"? i.e. "Waiting to Exhaul." If you guys want to bail on the idea of a patch, no problem no biggy. It doesn't look like it's going to happen, but ditching a forum to "solidify" this in our minds is kinda .. oh .. cliche'?

I understand that there aren't that many mods being made for D3 anymore .. not that there ever was as it's a major pain to do so.

Just something to think about.

It IS Just a forum after all. ;)

I figured D3 got up there in age so it wouldnâ??t matter as much. But some of you have a point. But the D3 Dev does need to go.

I'm not allowed to elaborate, but all I can say is that there is still a use for that forum.

Not allowed to elaborate? Right. Like there's some Descent 3 project going on that requires NDA secrecy. Heheh. :P

Yeah, is it even worth the mental energy anymore to speculate what you're talking about? :P

Actually, I am under a verbal NDA.
Typically, such NDA's preclude the sort of hinting and posturing you're currently engaging in.

In fact, usually you can't even say that such an NDA exists, or that a person under such an NDA exists! You must hereby deny your existance to be in agreement.

Until then we can assume that such a product or service that is under NDA doesn't exist and can reinstate said forum when the announcement comes if said forum would be useful.
