Space levels in Descent 2

Post by anubis »

It is possible to make a space/outside level, it just takes a lot of work and skill, even the best d1/d2 level makers may find it difficult to make such levels. Last summer I made a crappy space level out of DLE XP, wasn't very good though and its gone cause I had to format my computer. Another unfortunate thing is I've not used DLEXP for quite awile now but I plan to start using it again and get my skills back.

After I make the space level I will post it on my website. BTW if anybody wants to make any space/outside levels for Descent 1-2 post it here, I would really love to see them.

I don't think such a thing is even possible. Even so the Descent 2 engine wasn't built for any thing like that. It wouldnâ??t feel like youâ??re flying in outer space, just one big cube with wallpaper.

This might suggest otherwise. ;)

If you're very careful, you can get it to look at least somewhat like that without breaking the effect. It wasn't entirely out in space, but in the Space Station tracks I built for Lobber's Solar Marathon project I managed to get a reasonable perspective appearance to work through the windows (although it wasn't perfect - the cubes can't be infinitely large).
