for those into this kinda thing, it's probably old news. Thought I'd pass this along. My thought is that with Pixars "backing", Maya will gain a bit more of a foothold in the 3D "world".

you may of heard of discreet's 3d studio max... since the dawn of man, Discreet's 3d studio max and Alias's maya have been fighting over users in the game and film indsutry... about 3 or 4 weeks ago Autodesk (umbrella corp over discreet) bought out alias and fired 600 employees in the U.S. :p

By majority, I'm literally meaning 95%.
Yeah but all maya users i've spoken to (like 10) all are switching to max.

I currently use Maya, though I used to use Max in school. At this point I'd say my preference is a toss-up, although I might give the slight edge to Max - simply for ease of use out of the box.
Basically, I don't care what happens, a 3d package is a 3d package and I'm just going to align myself with whatever I use at my job.
