Descent 2 Level 2
Ok, in Descent 2 level 2, there is a helix cannon in a secret room but I cant seem to get the door open. I know that there is a switch that opens the door, however by the time I blow it and reach the door its already closed. Can anyone help?
Use bombs (prox mines will do, but I prefer to use smart bombs, if you've got 'em). If they don't blow before you can get a clear shot, shoot them while keeping an eye on your HUD messages. As soon as you see "door opened!" you turn and AB for all your worth! (I'd suggest setting markers in the doorways to save you the time taken to open them.)
Maybe you'll do it, maybe you won't. Good luck!

1-First go to the room where you see the cannon behind a grate.
2-Examine the both rooms behind the grate, there should be a switch that you can see(NOT the other which opens the door), shoot it-it´ll open the wall blocking the helix.
3-Now go to the room which contains the switch that opens the door of helix.Drop a smart mine in front of the switch.
4-Go and wait near the secret door(The door of helix)...

This gives any new player a lot of grief.
Once you get the hang of it, it's not that difficult. Go through the chamber killing all the bots and killing the switch in that short hallway. Go back throw the other switch and burn to the hidden door in the ceiling. Bi-cording at least will make this a breeze. Practice getting there a couple of times before you actually shoot the switch.

Oh, and you know the switch that opens the final secret door to the Helix?
DO NOT shoot that while inside the door it is behind - otherwise when you exit the door it will immediately close again.
Sit outside, shoot it with a flare or lasers or something, then immediately rush to the door it opens. You will probably want an afterburner for this; you don't need it but you do need to be a good pilot to reach the door in time without it.
Of course, compared to the arcing corridor outside the yellow door in Ganesh Dungeon, this one is almost trivial...

(Also you can beat the level without getting the Blue key)DarkFlameWolf wrote:I'd have to say that that level was one of the better designed levels of Descent 2. Mainly because everything inter-connected. I like that aspect in levels.
I figured it out a while back... it took me serveral tries but I got it.
Lvl 2 ....wow.. I had nevre thought of that. 0_o Thanks Sirius!Sirius wrote:You might be able to beat level 2 without getting the red key either, if you're good enough with the guided missiles. Not sure the doors will open that way though.
I recall in level 7 you can skip both the blue and yellow keys.
