Looking for a new hard drive

Post by Top Wop »

Im wondering whats the word on drives, im looking at a Hitachi T7K250 250 Gb drive and would like opinions or suggestions on anything else thats out there. I know Seagate's got a 5 year warrenty even though Hitachi only has 3 years but they have much better benchmarks. Speed is important. Thanks!

I have a pair of Hitachi 7K400 drives (PATA), I'm satisfied with them, lots of performance and capacity for ATA. Though my previous WD2500PB drives were quieter and cooler, make sure you have decent cooling on these.

If you want speed and a 5 year warranty in 1 package get a Maxtor Maxline series drive.

Yeah, Hitachi's are known for their speed. I'd still personally go with a Seagate just because of the warranty, quality, and quietness, but if you need top performance, Hitachi's should get the job done.
