Recs for a Backup Program for M$ Windblows XP

Post by Iceman »

I need a good backup program. I looked at Norton Ghost 10 but it doesn't support selective backup of files and/or folders. Here are my main requirements:

* Schedule backup for a particular time/date
* Backup to a CD/DVD, Hard Disk, or network folder
* Selective backup of files/folders
* File based backup (program doesn't demand a disk dedicated to its data alone).

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ice out ...

Check here, Vander found a freeware program called SyncBack that sounds like it fits your needs. You can use task scheduler to run automated backups, and you can make different profiles to copy different folders or files when you want it to.

I use it also, its easy to set up and can be set to only copy the changed files to the backup, which saves quite a bit of time.

Wow thanks! I searched the DBB Tech Forum for 'synchronization' and 'synch' but got no hits. Seems 'Syncronization' would have worked ...

Thanks again and I'm still looking for suggestions in case this isn't what I want.

The backup program that comes with XP does all those things except I don't believe it can burn to CD.
