For some reason since the recent changes(see below why GLmax does not work) to the scripting for shadowfire IRC servers, GLMAX is unable to Login correctly to the backup PXO server
So you can use the following information for either Mirc or Trillian to gain access to the PXO backup server during down times for chat
server : trigun.shadowfire.org (or irc.shadowfire.org)
port : 6667 (default)
Channel : #descent
Reason why -- http://www.shadowfire.org/
ShadowFire now requires the specification of a valid working email address for all registered nicknames. Without one, you will be unable to use your nickname. The specification of an email address is required when registering new nicknames.
Now before you loose the plot and begin screaming obscenities, please read the following as it will help answer your questions and reassure you that we are not out to capitalise on your identity!
Most importantly, ShadowFire respects your right to privacy. This means that we will never sell or provide access to the email address you associate with registered nicknames, unless required to do so by law. In addition, we will never send you any unsolicited email.
With that said, let us explain how you, and ShadowFire as a whole, stand to benefit from this change:
If you forget your password, you can have NickServ/ChanServ email it to you without having to contact an IRC Operator.
You will be able to forward your memos to your email address.
IRC Operators will be able to verify your identity more easily. This will allow us to solve your problems, such as stolen nicknames, far more quickly.
It will allow us to reduce the amount of Services and network abuse, making the network a more friendly and reliable environment for you to use.
In short, we hate spam just as much as you do and we will never give out your email address or send you spam.
To set an email address for your nickname, issue the following command while on IRC:
/msg nickserv set email your@email.address
To hide your email address from other users, issue the following command while on IRC:
/msg nickserv set hide email on
