wow, that first pic of the tank looks amazingly real, i'd feel like i was really there. Notice the blurred edges on the shadows? I bet that's a new "shadow antiailasing" technique or something. (eg: on the road infront of the tank)

i'm glad someone said that. I really like games that give you the urge to slow down and look around.

Homeworld was such a game for me, i would just float around admiring the incredible view.

thats how i feel about FarCry, the game wasn't all that good, but cranking the quality and wandering the paradise is just unbeleivable! :)

roid, that was the first thing I noticed too, but I actually was looking at the tank itself and the soft lighting effects... I think it's something fundamentally different about all the lighting, not just the really spectacular soft shadows.

The colorfulness reminds me a lot of Perfect Dark's Chicago level.

/me likes :)

ah yeah i noticed that too, it's like um... atmosphere rendering or something. You can tell the air is thick/humid from the way the light is diffusing through the air so light sources look kinda "blurry". brilliant technique however they are doin' in.

This is why my mod waits for UT2007, that and I think I want to enter it into the contest. The question is, will they have a contest for this one and will they have Maya PLE and their normal tools available for this one too. :)
