Hey guys and gals
I'm trying to recreate the "descent" logo from D1. My only problem is that I can't gradient the text color!
I also have Corel 10. Would I stand a better chance of doing this suing it instead of Adobe Photoshop 7?

Duper ... umm have you tried rasterizing the text layer... or just ctrl-click the layer ... and had the gradient as an overlay on a new layer. or IIRC in 7 you could use the blending options to add a gradient to 'un-rasterized' text... actually i can think about 8 different ways to add a gradient to text in ps7...
Ok, got it. I had to customize a grad. This is really just an experiment for another project I have going.
Now, I know the "T" is is goofed. I'd have to do it separatly and mask it in.
The gradiant needs some tweeking. 2 more stops should do it.
*EDIT*
Ok, updated. This is a little closer

not too bad!
i like the first on a litle better. (and not just cause of the beveling) try a spherical gradient and pull it OUT to get a REALLY even grad on the bottom of the text.
also... (and this works best if you use a tablet) but you can also forgo the gradient and just airbrush it. gives a more natural look, and you can really get the color where you want it.
the spacing on your D is a little open in the middle there... bottom of it should be fatter. spacing on the E betweek the bottom and middle 'tines' looks a little wide... BUT PHENOMONALLY better than the original!
my 'offical' unoffical grade is 'cool beans'

Thanks! The letter, I can do nothing about. It's the font. The font is also screwy. Some tabs and protrutions that are just kinda nasty, fyrephlie wrote: the spacing on your D is a little open in the middle there... bottom of it should be fatter. spacing on the E betweek the bottom and middle 'tines' looks a little wide... Here is what I'm workin on...
It's getting late, so I'll tweek this tomarrow, but I think I'll ditch the bevel as that's only 2 pixels and looks funcky. That's about the size it will be too... that's also about 35 px font size. I could try something a bit higher like 80 or 100 then reduce the pix size. Although, I'm afraid that it will fubar during the sharpening. ....hrm.. tomarrow.
