Hello! I'm here again!

Now, I going to defeat Hellion, but I fucked up everything... I don't have any napalm weapon, and I think the energy weapons doesn't make any damage on him.

Is there a tricky way to defeat him? (eg.: in Quake 1, the first episode's final boss, there are two switches in the bridges above the lava. When I pushed them, an energy bolt lowered from the ceiling and killed the boss. I killed him without gunfire...)

Oh nevermind. I restarted the level, got some fire weapons, and toasted Hellion! :D

Man, the end movie is cool! And Wingnut is a hero.
But what happened to the girl on Red Acropolis?

It's easy to presume that Dr. Harper and the rest of the Red Acropolis staff are okay. The last you hear from them is at the start of the final level, when you lose contact because of the base's radar jamming.

D1 and D2 even less so. :P At least the Descent novels added a bit of expansion to the universe.

But at least it HAD a story line. I'm one of the folks who liked D3 best for exactly that reason. D1 and D2 were fun, but in D3 I actually got to do something besides grab three keys and blow the reactor. The missions could have all kinds of different goals. Yeah, they could have done more with the story, but, as top gun points out, it was still a big advance over the other two.

Ok, were those really worth wasting time on? I just assumed they were serious stinkers. Are they better than that? Should I run down to half priced books and start looking for them? :)

A huge x2 there. I always hear everyone talk about how much better D1/2's singleplayer was, but I know that, for D2 at least, I was bored to death by the halfway point. (Due to my supreme n00bishness, I've never managed to get through D1; since the bots scare me so much, I guess I can't really call it boring. :P) It's true that D3's storyline could have played out a lot better, but at least there was a lot of variety to its gameplay. You did everything from sabotaging a prison to running from trains to becoming the "chosen one" to working through a proving grounds...I could keep going on. D3 may have lost some of the "darkness" that D1/2 had, but at least it threw in a ton of variety to compensate.

I've heard some people disparage them, but I enjoyed them myself. They're not exactly high literature (which is a good thing, since I'm not a huge fan of it myself ;)), but they do make for a fun read. The MD character, who goes by the name of Benjamin St. John, comes off just as sarcastic as D1's intro would lead you to believe, if a bit more of a playboy than you would have guessed. :P The three books roughly correspond with the three games, although they obviously add a lot of expansion and diverge from the games. For instance, the first novel takes place entirely in the Lunar Mine, although it's infinitely bigger than D1 level 1 was. The second novel does finish up at Tycho Brahe, but most of the rest of it doesn't match up with D2. The third novel includes some of the highlights of D3, like the prison break and the attack on Red Acropolis, but it finishes up at Shiva Station, not on Venus. If you can find them for cheap, I'd recommend at least giving them a shot; for me, at least, they managed to capture the feel of flying a Pyro far better than I would have expected. (In fact, there are a few technical elements that I really wish could have been possible in the games.)

I'll keep an eye out at half-priced books then. Thanks for the tip! :)
