hint...
hey Javed... lemme let you in on a little secret... this whole thread is a joke. We all treat it like a game -- just a game we occasionally make joking "you cheat because you killed me and that's not allowed" posts about ;)

Suncho-
I am really upset that you have a problem with those of us who Fly Mac D3. Does your dislike include me and My Mac, Gr.(pron. Junior). You met me at Klay's Last December, and even tho was the only mac in a garage of PC's, I did the best that I could. Yes, I was limited by my fps and pps, but I apperently was doing good enuf to impress Stresstest since he had never seen any1 fly with my pps limatations b4, til he met me. That has to mean something, right? Prob be a good idea what you say about my fellow Mac D3ers, You just might have the Mac flying D3 Community breathing down your neck.
My two bits of defense:

Sorry guys, I'ma actually get serious on this thread now too.
I think it needs to be said that I don't have a problem w/ MAC users either. I have a problem with MAC cheaters. There's a reason that that the community has decided to disable ML on most servers, in that it creates an advantage for a select group of players, while leaving all others out.
People who use ML on their Apples are exploiting, plain and simple, and it's as lame as the wall exploit or any of the other exploits.
That being said, I think the worst part of it (for me) is that it utterly invalidates some of my tactics and I have to adjust my whole playing style to accomodate ONE user out of however many are on the server. So yes, I am teh_whiner.
Aside from the inherent gameplay advantages, the fact that they can instantly snap 180 degrees is kind of lame from an immersion standpoint as well. Makes things seem less "real".
Fezzy- I'd guess that YOU had to look up the spelling of your competition nick. Hell, I can spell prestidigitation without lookin' it up, so there. I'm better than you, Deal with it! It's good to be the king!
Stop, drop and roll!

I totally agree with WarAdvocate (he also makes a very good arguement about MAC MLers.... j/k, Fezzik ).
You can try to argue it any way you like, but if a MAC MLer's ship doesn't conform to the standard D3 ships physics, it is cheating (perhaps, in some cases, not conciously), in my opinion, and should be avoided by MAC players who appreciate fair play. Also, I think it's lame to use as an excuse that PC users have frame-rate advantages, pps advantages, etc. These things are unfortunate, in that MAC users can't achieve the same (speaking only from what I've heard), but have to do with enhancing the perception of the game, and not the actual game itself.

*whoosh* over his head...
Perhaps you should re-read my earlier post in this thread, conveniently linked right here for easy access.
Oh, and a lot of us were here when the game first came out, and made the necessary comments then...

Neo- Thanx for your support.
WarA- Thanx for your support too. If it's any consalation to those of you that responded after my post in this string, I use a Joy instead of mouse for direction. Does your dislike of ML also include the PC pilots who use a mouse instead of joy, too?
Sarge Thorne- What you have heard is true, at least in my case. I am maxed out at 7pps,while online,(think 10 in a lan setup.), and fps capped at 62.5.

mouse...
fusion,
"mouselook" is different than just mouse. Nobody cares if a pilot uses mouse.
What people care about is if a pilot either
1) uses mouse on a Mac with the sensitivity cranked way up, or
2) uses the "mouselook" option on any system
Both of those allow a player to turn their ship much faster than it should be capable of turning, and much faster than the game was really designed to allow ships to turn. It's essentially the same problem as the D2 spaceorb 180 - it allows for an unfair advantage based on a violation of game mechanics.
Use mouse all you want, even on a mac, and everyone should be cool with that -- but if you turn the sensitivity up so you can turn 180 with a flick of the wrist, you've probably entered into the realm of "cheating", or at least "very lame".

Interesting....Suncho, didn't you used to have a SpaceOrb?Lothar wrote:fusion,

Lothar:
IF, and only IF, ML is enabled on the server, I don't have a problem w/ mouselookers. Personally, I won't play there, but I wouldn't call mouselooking cheating or even lame...IN THAT INSTANCE.
It's when you bring mouselook to a server that is configured to deny that ability, that I feel it's extremely lame at best, cheating at worst.
Of course I think shooting back at me is lame too, so maybe I'm whacked.

actually, it's lame mouselook was even included in the game.
How many people actually run mouselook-enabled servers? If they're not shutting it off, I guess it's their own problem. But yes, the real problem is when someone brings mac pseudoML into a game where it doesn't belong.
Oh, and there's nothing wrong with owning an orb. There's just something wrong with cranking up the sensitivity in order to violate game physics. There are a lot of pilots who used orb fairly, just like there are a lot who use mac mouse fairly -- the concern is those who crank the sensitivity to absurd levels.
