HELP K8N don't work

Post by Perediablo »

Hello,

I just purchased and attemted to instal an ASUS K8N with a Sempron 2600 64 CPU. I left everything intact less the MB and proc. Screwed the sucker down installed all plugs, connectors, and whatnots. I hit the power switch and waiting, waitin, waiting..no friggin beep. This darn thing won't post. I've checked and rechecked all connections multiple times. My brain is sliding down my neck. I'm hoping I can get this thing working without returning the MB.

other important sys specs:
Antec 430W PSU
Sapphire ATI X800 card
Kingston HyperX 1GB (dual 512) RAM

Don't know if that'll help but what the heck. Oh BTW the reason I replaced MB was the old one wouldn't hiold the drivers for the onboard audio, networking, VGA, etc. It would get stuck in a booting loop, and I suspected the MB. Now with ne MB and proc it will not post. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Check the memory one stick at a time, dust it out, assuming you don't overclock the CPU is actually the most durable component in a computer.

Updated the BIOS? Made sure that the 2600 is compatable with that mobo?

If it can't POST, it definitely can't flash the BIOS.

Is this the same processor from the previous system? Stupid question, but did you actually remember to flip the switch on the back of the power supply to the on position?

Thanks for the help y'all. Turns out the MB was deader than that guy in that movie where the guy died. I bought a new one and it works like a one legged man in butt kickin contest.

Thanks
