Hm. I noticed during the whole 3DFX thing that my screenshots were spooling in darker than my game screen was.
Not sure what's going on there. I use a Nvidia 6600GT with the latest drivers. I don't use the game profiler.
does it use the desktop's gamma for screenshots?

D3 saves screen shots without the ingame gamma correction (which you probably have boosted to around 2.2) so the shots will look very dark, you can use an image editor to boost the gamma back to something you can see.

no, actually, my gamma is around 1.48 and is quite bright. but as far as editing it.... Doh!
That was just a little too easy.
