com·pro·mise Audio pronunciation of \"compromise\" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kmpr-mz)n.What would your compromise be Barry? Take away assault weapons, machine guns, and armor piercing bullets and you can have your handguns and rifles all day long. What you think?
1. A settlement of differences in which each side makes concessions.
2. The result of such a settlement.
2. Something that combines qualities or elements of different things: The incongruous design is a compromise between high tech and early American.
3. A concession to something detrimental or pejorative: a compromise of morality
Z,
what you're suggesting wouldn't be a compromise. See, a compromise is when your side gives something and my side gives something. Your side isn't giving anything, they're only taking.
If you're suggesting that letting me *keep* my handguns is a compromise, it's not. I already have them!!
So sure, let's compromise- what is your side going to give me that I don't already have?
Testi,I have a compromise. Take away all the stupid people.
by definition this would also not be a compromise.
How about- We *take* away all the stupid people and *give* them a place to live that is full of nothing but stupid people? Only problem is, where are you going to find a place that filled with *only* stupid people...
Yah you're right, there cannot be a compromise with the gun crowd. You have assault weapons, undetectable handguns, armor piercing bullets, no gun locks, why concede anything at all?
What do you propose Barry? What would you give up to get the gun control people out of the works? Anything? I'm betting nothing, you don't seem to be the one to compromise...no foul intended...just my opinion

That was a not so artfull dodge. Why don't you try answering his question and I bet he will answer yours. Just a thoughtZuruck wrote:Yah you're right, there cannot be a compromise with the gun crowd. Partially true- Assault weapons are totally banned in California while pretty much the rest of the U.S is able to purchase them. They are able to purchase them *only* after they were banned for 10 years due to Clinton's AWB, which was proven to do absolutely no good and expired late in '04.You have assault weapons
Do me a favor, please, since we're discussing assault weapons. Define assault weapon.
There is no such thing as an undetectable handgun.I think I know what you're talking about, though.Back in the late 80's Glock came out with their polymer(plastic) framed pistol that caused a huge uproar due to the fact that the anti's tried to convince the public that these firearms can go through metal detectors without being seen.Deceptive words in an attempt to convince the public that they were undetectable in airports, etc.and easily smuggled into places they shouldn't be.As usual, the truth will eventually come out- while Glock does make polymer framed pistol, the internals are all metal and molded into the polymer which cannot be removed without literally destroying the frame. Not to mention that the whole upper half of the firearm(barrel, slide, recoil springs, etc) is all metal just like any other firearm and will be detected just like any other firearm.undetectable handguns
The anti-firearm crowd likes to pretend that all these magical weapons are available to the consumer and seem to be able to convince thier existence to the uneducated masses. The biggest problem is most of the anti-firearm crowd are uneducated about firearms as well. It's a case of the blind leading the blind.
What armor? if you mean bullet resistant vests- any rifle bullet will buzz right through a bullet \"proof\" vest, there doesn't have to be anything special about the bullet at all. Those vests are designed to stop handgun bullets and do so amazingly well. If you mean true armor (APC's, LAV's)piercing bullets, they are illegal in all states and not sold commercially.armor piercing bullets
Gun lock are mandatory in California and if you're firearms are not locked up and someone gets ahold of them, you are responsible financially and criminally. .no gun locks
Let's run through the quick list-
We can no longer own \"assault rifle's\"
We can no longer magazines with a capacity greater than 10(rifle or pistol)
we can no longer purchase handguns that are not approved by DOJ.
We have to undergo a background check in order to purchase a firearm.
We have a 10 day waiting period.
We are required to lock-up our firearms.
Each firearm is required to be registered with DOJ/ATF.
we're allowed to purchase 1 handgun every 30 days.
I'm not allowed to sell a friend or family member a firearm outright.
A BFSC must be issued before I can legally purchase a handgun(I must pass their test- yes, a literal test given by the FFL holders)
We are not allowed to own a .50 caliber weapon.
I can go on and on and on. It would be better if you just read California Penal Code Sec. 12020 instead of me typing out all 13,493 laws.
That's the thing, they keep complaining that we won't compromise.
Again, a compromise is when both sides gives something up. The anti's have never(yes, never.. not once) given us anything, they just take and shout to the uneducated how unreasonable we are.
They want A,B&C..
take C and let us keep A&B and pretend they're givers..huh? We weren't given anything, they simply took less... this time.
Zuruck,
at the risk of sounding like an a_ss(I'm honestly not trying to) you're grossly uneducated about firearms, the laws, the intentions of both sides and how things go down in my world. I honestly wish you had interest enough to spend time objectively learning the world of firearms & the anti crowd. I honestly think it would really piss you off if you knew how badly we're painted and how much mis-information they sell to the uneducated public.
The bottom line is- they're going to incrementally legislate them away while they continually scream how unreasonable we are.

A trick question(and one I missed the first time around, sorry)!!!What do you propose Barry? What would you give up to get the gun control people out of the works? Anything? I'm betting nothing, you don't seem to be the one to compromise...no foul intended...just my opinion
There are thousands upon thousand of firearm laws that do absolutely no good.. you heard me, pointless. It would take years to go through them all and tell you what I'm okay with and which ones I'd like repealed.
The truth is, I don't really need or want any of them changed(see note), you can have everything you've already taken..I simply want one thing from here on out- that is, Stop! Now! No more!! Keep everything you've taken, but take no more..I've given enough and have taken nothing. How's that for compromise?
Note: If I had to pick a couple that I think do no good and are annoying they would be.
1. Waiting period- designed to prevent crimes of passion, but obviously don't.. knives, Bats, tire irons work fine and are used more than handguns anyway.
2. one handgun every 30 days- Dumb!! I'd like to purchase two consecutively numbered collectors pistols and can't... why?
3. California approved firearms list- repeal it!!! It's literally senseless. Did you know that a Walther p22 pistol in black is on the California approved list , but the same pistol in stainless is not? Why?
To recap- I can buy a black walther P22, but I cannot buy a stainless Walther P22.. same gun, same bullets different color. Does that make a lick of sense? I can buy a Springfield armory XD in a .40 caliber because it's on the california approved list, but I can't buy a Springfield armory XD in a .45 caliber.. it's the same gun, different caliber. I can buy .45 caliber firearms all day long, there's nothing special about a .45 caliber handgun...but, I guess the XD .45 must be one of those magical firearms that we just can't have.. even though we can have the same gun in a .40 caliber...

Re:
You know why... but agreed, that is utterly senseless. Any little variation and it has to go through the entire approval process again? Add tritium night sights and it's a different gun?Fusion pimp wrote:I can buy a black walther P22, but I cannot buy a stainless Walther P22..
Stupid.
Right: anything that which does not require permission to perform. These come from owning property; no property, no rights. By owning something, you are the highest authority on that something, with no one to ask but yourself.
Privilege: anything that requires a permit, license, or any other form of permission to perform. These come from not owning property.
That the pro-Self-Defense crowd allowed the anti-Self-Defense crowd to turn the RKBA into a privilege was in itself an unacceptable concession. Nevermind the 23,000 laws that came about because of that.
I'm not surprised no one even knows how to define \"right\" and \"privilege\" anymore, considering the near-70 years of indoctrination by saying things in reverse: slavery is freedom, war is peace, privileges are rights...

War,
Yeah, I know why they do it. Besides being liars they're also extortionists. This topic is complicated enough without factoring in thier intentions and deviousness.
You could have posted this and left the rest out, that says it all.
