You can search for sets (some from the '60s even!), find out what pieces were used in making them, and download instruction manuals for a lot of em. If you have a big pile of assorted Legos then you can make your own versions of models by using your own parts and improvising. Or, failing that, they list places you can buy the complete sets.
In retrospect its a shame I didnt buy the Williams F1 car when it came out a few years ago, theyre worth quite a bit now
