It does, in a way...

Add a huge attachment to your e-mail and reply to the spammer's address--if everyone does it, their bandwidth costs go through the roof.

Especially effective in Nigerian Phishing cases. ;)

I've probably got enough junk in my garage at home to send a clear message to most spammers. Maybe a box full of bad floppies? Broken PS/2 mice? An old Christmas tree for the holidays? Oh, I could go on...

Old news, but still very funny. :) Funny thing is, the first time this got circulated around, I stopped getting those. Gee, I wonder why. ;)

See the bar code on the letter? Deface it, cover it with marker or nail polish so the machines cant read it. That way it gets kicked to manual sorting and the rates charged to the returnee are greater yet.

Another great idea: go to your local grocery store, and buy several cans...no, CRATES of Spam meat. Let it sit overnight at room temperature. Just before you put them in the box, punch some holes in the top of each can. Make sure to make them just big enough to expose the meat inside to the air around the can. Hopefully, buy the time they get where they're going...I think your message will be crystal clear by then.

you can't send hazardous material. That would include rotting/exposed food or fesces. That's biohazardous.

Yeah, but theres one problem with that. Its against the law, and can find you with some pretty substantial fines....and thats if you're lucky. (Sending hazardous material w/o declaring it is a federal offense IIRC.) Screwing with them is one thing, but don't be stupid.

As long as they don't eat it it wouldn't be hazardous, right?
