Re:
That's not a 3D pro. So that converter will not (I don't think) work. But I could be wrong.
Ah. Did you try a different USB port ? A different computer ? If you plug it in and open Start->Control Panel->Game Controlers, the list box that opens should have an entry named \"Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro (USB)\". If you double click on that a test window should open where you can test the stick. If you don't see that on your comp w/ different USB ports and a different comp the stick or the converter is broken. If you do see that, start the Descent 3 launcher, select Setup, then Controls. If the Current Joystick is not listed as \"Microsoft SideWinder Precision Pro (USB)\" click Redetect Current Joystick.

If you are using a gameport to connect the Precision Pro, go into game controllers in the control panel ---> add a new controller ---> scroll down and select \"Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect)\" and push ok.
If the USB doesnt work, either the converter is bad (I have one that went bad, only works if you bend the wire one way) or something is up with the port or driver; try what Grendel suggested.

Re:
On a 2nd thought -- do you have a USB converter or the one that came w/ it (Microsoft p/n 98427) ? It will only work w/ the latter.VonHAYD wrote:I have a USB converter, and when i use it, nothing happens, thats what im trying to figure out

\"My Joystick is not working\"
\"Descent\"
Precision Pro != good joystick.
(It has far too much slack around the center point, and it continues to deteriorate throughout its lifetime. It is too tall. The switches in the head of the unit fail rapidly, particularly the poorly designed HAT assembly.)
My work here is done.

Hi Hayd! Welcome to Descent brother VON! If you want we can do some direct TCP/IP and do some training. You can host. Once we get that stick working.
Do you have built in audio on your motherboard or a separate card or no audio?
You should have a gameport; http://images.google.ca/images?q=gameport&hl=en
If not an adapter or just the port plate and a header on the motherboard or sound card is in order.
Oh and if you were using mouse then make sure Joystick is setected as input device in the Descent menu.
