I'm looking into getting a pc modem card for my laptop so I can retrieve email and surf the internet while mobile.
I don't need it very often on a daily basis but when I need it I need it. Mostly to be able to check email or download equipment specs, wiring diagrams etc.
The major wireless companies all want me to buy their $49.99 per month unlimited plan but they all offer a limited plan for much less.
For example, Cingular will let me have 5MB of data per month for $19.99 per month and 0.008 cents per additional KB.
The problem is I have no idea how much data I consume during the average session.
So, is there some utility I could download or some built in app in XP that would let me add up the data flow during a couple of nights worth of intermittant net surfing so I'll know if the cheaper plan will really be cheaper once all my use is totalled?
And of course any recommendations for particular hardware or provider plans you may have will be much appreciated as well!
measure data load during internet use...how?

Bandwidth Monitor Pro sounds like it might fit the bill... it has a trial period, so nothing out of pocket if it is not what you are looking for.
