Z axis Mystery

Post by Incisor »

I love the fetures packed into D2X-XL. Yet I am dismayed I have snooped the web with no luck so far in solving the pesky z axis issue with my SW3dpro. Help!
I am running xp pro, I have a game to USb converter. It seems to work fine as far as XP is concerned I can configure it a 2 axis stick 4 button with rudder control. This worked in my old system witt good old school D2. XP lets me claibrate up just dandy. But go in to D2X-XL and every thing but the z axis twist works. It picks up nothing whenI try to set that axis. not even a twitch. Why is all well in the Xp Game controler set up but Twista is gone in Game set up.

I don't want to have to go back to learn mouser again.

Any thoughts gang?

are you using grendels converter? If that's the case then there should be no problem.

Gendels converter..
Not yet, Is this a typical problem scenario. I thought Grendels Gizmo just fixwd the no connect issue? Since my Non Grendel converter was functional in Xp I assumed there was a D2X setup problem that I was not seeing.

Grendel's converter does a lot more than that; it allows your 3D Pro to run in digital mode, allowing you to use all of its original functionality. A standard gameport-to-USB adapter, like the kind you can find at Radio Shack, only allows the 3D Pro to operate in one of two analog modes, which can be selected by using the switch on the front. Both of these modes have severe limitations, such as not being able to use the base buttons, twist, throttle, or multiple button presses at once. You can try switching to the other mode to see if you get any better results, but with a standard converter, that's pretty much the best you'll get.
