ahhh yes, I forgot about the S.A.L.(Suncho approved levels).Skybox is bad, but it is in not worse than Stadium or Abend.
Bad: Skybox
Worse: Stadium
Worst: Abend
Heres the way I see it.
each level is built for a certain style of game play.
If a certain level fits your style of play, you will like that level and play it more often.
The bad part of this is....
when most people dont like the style of play in a level, They label it as bad or non playable level.
Now im not saying there isnt levels out there that really were not good levels for D3. but in most cases it's just pilots labeling their favorite and most hated levels accordingly.
I guess what im trying to say is just cause you hate a level doesnt mean its a shitty level.
You of course are entitleed to your opinion as much as the next guy. But that entitlement doesnt include bashing server ops for what they choose to serve on their private and graciously provided servers for a dwindling community.
Just sit back and look at the server list and think of all the good servers we have lost over the past couple of years.
It would be interesting (to me at least) to get ahold of some of the Ops and pick their brain as to why they quit running servers.
anyway, its too early to continue ranting on. I need coffee.
just my 11/2 cents worth. -Hat
Off topic:
Stadium is one of my favorite levels by far. It's a really good dogfighting level. I agree with Lothar that it is heavy on the secondaries. Team NuB will often practice in stadium with only blues and concs. Sharpens the aiming skills.

Very cool site. I look forward to playing on some of the servers when the semester is finally over and I actually have time to play.

Hattrick, I fail to see how what I said is any worse than what you said. You said a level sucked:
How can I objectively tell that a level sucks? If I join a Stadium or Abend server, everyone leaves the game more quickly and I have a higher chance of getting called a cheater. Newbies play the crappy level because they like it better because nobody of any skill comes into the game to play against them.
Then I said some levels sucked:Hattrick wrote:the absolute worst secondary whoring level(skybox)
Then you went into this big tirade about "Suncho Approved Levels" and how each level is special in its own way and must be loved equally...Suncho wrote:Skybox is bad, but it is in not worse than Stadium or Abend.
Do you even know what SAL means? All 3 of those levels are SAL. There are plenty of non-SAL levels that are better than them too.Hattrick wrote:ahhh yes, I forgot about the S.A.L.(Suncho approved levels).Skybox is bad, but it is in not worse than Stadium or Abend.

Here's the way I see it. Some levels are not built for any style of play and they're just sloppily put together. Pretty much all players recognize this and then don't play those levels. Newbies come into the game and they get owned on every server except one... the one with the crappy level playing on it. The crappy level then becomes their favorite level.Hattrick wrote:Heres the way I see it.

And why is it bad? Newbies get a place to call their home. Oh, you're right, it is bad... because all newbies are playing *crappy levels* and they're our future!Hattrick wrote: The bad part of this is....

I'm not stupid. I know how to tell the difference. I hate Halcyon, but I don't think it's a crappy level.Hattrick wrote: I guess what im trying to say is just cause you hate a level doesnt mean its a **** level.
I'm not bashing server ops. I don't even think it's their fault.Hattrick wrote: You of course are entitleed to your opinion as much as the next guy. Doesn't matter. Servers come and go. Just be thankful to the people who are hosting now, and if ya see the people who hosted before, then thank them for all they gave. =)Hattrick wrote: Just sit back and look at the server list and think of all the good servers we have lost over the past couple of years.
I'm sure they all have different reasons.Hattrick wrote: It would be interesting (to me at least) to get ahold of some of the Ops and pick their brain as to why they quit running servers.
