Italy wins the world cup!

The title says it all.

Bit of an antticlimax that the finals went into penalties.

After watching that frog head butt the italian in the chest, sucker punch style, I was very glad he was watching his team lose from the locker room.

Go Italy!!!

x3. major bonehead move. I wonder what the Italian player said, since they seemed chummy up until about 3 microseconds before Zidane lost it....

Screw italy! I used to like them, but buying out games and faking injuries is not something to admire. This is a shallow cup they have won!

What he did was typical French arrogance. I hope his loss was painful.

I don't like it in any game when the outcome is decided by the Ref's and/or some sort of shootout. That's one thing I have to give hockey credit for- at least they don't do the shootout thing in the playoffs. I also like a best of multiple games situation. That way you give the teams enough playing time that those big, decisive calls tend to get more balanced out, and don't have as much significance. Just my 2 cents, though.

How to make soccer an interesting game:

1) Double the width of the goal mouth.
2) Make it 3 feet taller.
3) Ban any person on the field touching the ball with their hands.
4) Award 3 points for goals scored from the opposite half.
5) Award 2 points for goals scored outside 25 metres.
6) Award a single point for golas scored inside 25 metres.
7) Add a half point for goals scored by header.

8. Award \"Lives\" for any player that manages to catch and consume green colored mushrooms that roam the field.

Add some US senator bashing in that mix, and you've got yourself a game that even the poorest people would buy a TV for.

That trophy seemed kind of dinky for something as big as the World Cup, especially compared to something like Lord Stanley's behemoth. Then again, it looked like it might be gold, so maybe it's not so bad, after all. :P

We have stuff like rugby and gridiron for that.

Soccer reputedly takes a fair bit of skill to play well... no point altering the game at this point.

It's for the benefit of us barbaric americans. After all we'll stare at cars driving in a circle for hours just hoping one will crash.... ;)

Dont feel bad if you think it's stupid. Many people worldwide think that sticking large needles into thier body is supposed to help them relax.

Yeah, that's a waste of time if ever there was one. Seriously, watching drag races is a much better bet for such carnage (especially if you sabotage it with road spikes, kekeke) - even the F1 races are better since the tracks actually twist sometimes (it seems rarely a week goes by without someone's car getting spectacularly totalled in those things...).
