Extreme High-Poly Modelling

Post by Dakatsu »

I was bored one day, so I decided to take one of my old low poly models, and make a very high poly model, like one used in a FPS game.

Here is the original vehicle, it is the one on the top:

I am working so far on it, that model is about 100-300 polys, my new vehicle so far is 10,000 polys.

I will post a pic soon of what I have done of the new model.

I was aiming for some game like Unreal 3 or above. I plan to use it sometime if I see a game I can use it in. If I don't use it in a game, I may sometime get 3dsmax, and I can use it in there (I have ghetto gmax)

Wheels arent exciting, but hey, they look pretty cool, goes with my original idea of the vehicle.

Apparently I thought it was 4716 polygons per wheel, that is what it is total.

Next I plan on doing the windshield frame.

I dont plan on doing any textures for it. I just suck at that. I plan on making high poly models for a game later in the future, since I dont know how well textures may be in the future, I am doing them last. Besides, gmax doesnt support bump maps. (That is what I get for a free copy...)

It's looking really box at the moment, give it some sleeker angles and subsections and it will start to come together :)

check out other people's work, that's similar to yours. while you work go and look at images that are similar to what you want to make, to help your self.

Well, here is what I got so far:

Once again, the chassis is so far for positioning. I added the windows and frames, as well as the star.

I will do the gun next.
