What the hell is a shield power up? How dose 'shield' just float in a bubble in mid air? Why not just drain the dead robot body of it's shield? that would make more sense.

I'm going to assume from this statement that you have never actually PLAYED descent. A shield power up is just that. A powerup that increases your shield's strength in the game Descent.

It has the appearance of a translucent cobalt blue orb with electrical arcs moving over it's surface.
