Couple arrested after 'Passion' fight
Couple arrested after 'Passion' fight
Understatement of the year:
"Really, it was kind of a pitiful thing, to go to a movie like that and fight about it. I think they missed the point," said Gene McDaniel, chief sheriff's deputy.

I agree. I'm not religious, I just love the Lord Jesus. There can be only one truth. The rest is just "religion" and "spirituality." ^_~ (I hate that smiley! waaah! ^_~)Suncho wrote:I've never heard of someone just choosing to be religious on their own.kurupt wrote:christians because they were told to be? more than likely
Exactly. This is why the Lord God always makes Himself known to mankind, because faith comes by hearing the word of God. After He created man, He commanded him. It isn't revealed to us by flesh and blood, but by the Spirit of God.Suncho wrote:If nobody ever told you that christianity existed, would you be christian?

nah will lighten up. I dont know them but they seem like a fine couple. They are just the most devout and intelligent religious people on this board in my opinion. So if anyone was to get in a fight it would be them. It's lame that I have to clear that up instead of someone taking a joke. But that's a liberal thing right?
there are many kinds of religious people in the world, those who grew up with it, those who found it on their own, and those who had it crammed down their throats to name a few. i just have a feeling that billy-joe and bobby-sue here are the kinds that believe in it becuase the area they grew up in pushes it on them.
they obviously aren't the kind that found it on their own, becuase the people who truly believe would never beat their spouses.

Truth is just that: truth. =P That means everything else is false. Truth is absolute, not relative, and you know that. Because, if the statement "truth is absolute" is a lie, then the statement "'truth is absolute' is a lie" is a lie. Relativism just defeats itself. =P[NuB] Dedman wrote:What an incredibly limiting view of the world.Neo wrote:There can be only one truth.
You know this, but the only reason you don't want to believe it is because you don't want to be held responsible for your actions on the day of judgment. That, and you want to be able to sleep at night.

Word.Zuruck, usually when someone takes a cheap shot they at least have established some connection between their target and their accusation/inuendo/slander.
You seem to have decided to aim at Lothar and Drakona simply because they are a couple and they are christians and nothing more!
Very lame!
We don't fight with each other. Sorry to burst your bubble. Go find someone else to try to insult next time.they are just the most devout and intelligent religious people on this board in my opinion. So if anyone was to get in a fight it would be them.
Now, to answer an unrelated question:
Does "nobody" include God? I'll assume for now that direct contact with God is still OK, since it's a kind of stupid question if you don't allow God to speak. If nobody ever told you that christianity existed, would you be christian?
I don't think I'd know the name "Christian", and I might not have nearly as advanced or subtle understanding of God if I didn't have the level of resources I do. I'd still follow Him, I just would have to look harder for information about Him. (Hey, it worked for Melchizedek.)
Wow, thanks!Zuruck wrote:They are just the most devout and intelligent religious people on this board in my opinion.
ROFL, I see. You know, part of Christian maturity is tolerating people with whom you disagree in a loving spirit. That's different that tolerating ideas with which you disagree, but it still typically doesn't involve much scissor-stabbing.... So if anyone was to get in a fight it would be them.
While we do have a couple of theological disagreements, we talk about them from time to time, and I fully respect his scholarship, and he fully respects mine. Part of mature scholarship, I suppose, is knowing when you just think you're right, and when you really are right.
I choose to not view the world in black and white. That, in my opinion, is just taking the easy way out. I believe there is no absolute truth.Neo wrote:Truth is just that: truth. =P That means everything else is false. Truth is absolute, not relative, and you know that. Anyone who has taken physics knows that perspective is everything.

Priceless.I consider Lothar and Drakona one of the more tolerant people I know.
"Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
The nonreligious answer would be:I wonder what would happen if nobody in the world was educated about religion. What do you think would happen to us?
A new religion would be created. Religion exists to provide answers that science cannot. Science will never be able to adequately answer "what happens when we die," (70 virgins? Reincarnation? Heaven?) to most peoples standards: so religion will always exist. This is also why early religion had so many science characteristics. Many stated on religious terms that the earth was the center of the universe. Several other science facts were answered divinely. I believe Galileo was even imprisoned because his scientific results didn't agree with the theology of the time. For more modern times the pope has told Steven Hawking not to study before the big-bang because that is only for God to know. (paraphrased)
However, science usually wins majority opinion and religion usually adapts around it.
Religion was also formed to control others actions. If someone believes that they will burn for eternity if they steal, kill, etc., then they wont. Religion is by far the most effective form of law enforcement because it forces others to control themselves for themselves.
The religious answer would be:
That couldn't happen
There can only be one truth. Yes, but what is truth? Truth has something to do with who you are and who God is. And religion is something that will give you answer to this 2 questions. "Who am i?" and "Who is God?" "Religion" means "to connect" same as "yoga". Connect to what? Connect yourself to God. Another understanding of the word religion is "the way". The way to find God. People are diffrent, that's why there are diffrent religions. Diffrent "ways". God have no limits. So he doesn't limit himself to be found, to only one way/religion. So religion has nothing to do with truth.
Paradise is the world of dedication. The world we live in is the world of domination. There is basicly 3 steps in religious development. 1. I'm new. I see my own religion as the only one. I see all the good things in myself and the bad things in others. 2. I'm on my way. And understand now that this is more complicated and i now consider all religions as a search for the one God. 3. Now i see everybody (not only the religious) as Gods servants. And i see only the good things in others and my own bad things. Remember, the goal is dedication. That means i must put myself lowest. I must be ready to dedicate my place in paradise to others. If i want it for myself, i will turn my attetude into domination. That's why every religions is teaching humbleness.
This means. We can not judge, We can not say what is right or what is false.
Hope my english is making sense. This is a difficulte subject to talk about not on my native language. Thanks.

Oh em GEE! religeon sucks, just look at the crap it causes wherever it's mentioned... or just look at the middle east and all the boolshyte that goes on over there. (all, if not most, in the name of religeon)
To try and debate anything about it is just flat out stupid because it always ends in a fight. In my book, you can believe whatever you want, just stfu about it, cause nobody else wants to hear about it.
