Windows error message

Post by CDN_Merlin »

Anyone seen this before? I've googles it to my hearts content with no help.

\"printserver connect fail\"

This error box pops up every 30 seconds or so. Doesn't stop us from printing but it's annoying. If I kill the printspooler service it goes away. But then I can't print.

Win XP Pro Service Pack 2.

The print spooler service is poorly named, it is actually the \"print service\" period. Check the settings in printers and faxes, if you are up for it, delete and reinstall all the printers. If there are any \"auto\" network printers remove them. If you actually use the \"auto\" network printers, remove them anyway and add them in manually.

Ok thanks. I'll give that a shot. We do use \"auto\" printers but not for much longer. We are moving to 2003 Server and AD. Things will become easier.
