R.I.P. Veterans Stadium 1971-2004

Post by Top Gun »

Veterans Stadium was finally imploded this morning. That place held a lot of memories for the city of Philadelphia, one of the most poignant being Tug McGraw's World-Series-winning pitch in 1980. I've been down to the Vet many times, and I'll have to admit it was a little bittersweet watching it go. As much as people complained about the turf, the crumbling concrete, or the rats, it was still Philly's stadium. Thanks for the memories.

:( I was there when a near riot broke out during the Flyers Parade in the '70s when they won the Stanley Cup. Almost died that day while scaling it's gate. Fun times. :)
