Sony GDM-20 CRT

Post by AceCombat »

i think my Sony Trinitron monitor is finally taking its last moments of life.

it is a Sun Microsystems (Sony) GDM-20

after a unknown power outage today it has gone dim. now its done this before but it recovered itself, but its been almost 45 minutes that ive waited and i think its had its last life.

Slap the side or the top of the monitor and see what happens.

Knowing Ace, this funeral must undoubtedly contain high-powered rockets, shotguns, or Mexicans. ;)

Either that or maybe just a pound or two of TNT...

yeah i figured it was the flyback, how old are the GDM-20's anyways? its using a 13W3 Connector, with a DB15 Adaptor.

Side note: Uncle says i can use the Minigun or some Comp-B explosives........

Mental Note: god i hate using this POFS HP M50 15\" monitor!!

I have a samsung syncmaster 204b, I don't know about gaming, and the black level / vertical viewing angles could use some work. But it works quite well as a secondary monitor or for watching video and it blows any CRT out of the water for just working on the desktop or web pages.

try not ordering stuff that nobody's reviewed - its an opened-box, which means someone returned it to newegg, and newegg can't return it to the supplier.

this is better, you get full warranty for 20 bux more with rebate.

Things to consider:

Canceling that order
Cutting up your credit card
Suffering with the 15 inch monitor untill you can afford a good one.

Being a broke SOB is not a good time to be impulse buying, which that monitor is.

Okay, i talked to Newegg, the package shipped already. i can just refuse it and get a refund. i found this Rosewill R913E brand new and i will get that one, and pay the extra few $$$ for it.
