This is an annoying problem Ive been having lately with OpenGL applications. When I close an OpenGL application like D2X-XL or D3 running in OpenGL, sometimes the screen will not come back except for the cursor, so all I have is a black screen with the mouse cursor on it. Things seem to be still running but I cant see anything. This does not happen when running D3 in DX mode. Im not overclocking anything.
Hardware:
ASUS A8N-SLI-Delux
AMD 3200+
Kingston HYPERX 512Mb (PC3200)
BFG 7600 GT Geforce
Software:
Windows 2000 SP4
Forceware 91.47
nForce4 for AMD 6.85
RealTek AC97 A3.92
Anyone have any ideas other than nVidia's OpenGL implementation is screwed?
Thanks for any help.
Wierd OpenGL problem.

you'd really have to go out of your way for to program something not to run under 2k.CDN_Merlin wrote:I can understand but as time goes by, less and less stuff is being made for 2k and lower OS's.
Like an exclusive version of DX for a specific unreleased version of windows.
try installing the CPU drivers from AMD's site. That alone will probably fix a few issues.

Im not overclocking anything as a matter of fact I specifically turned off that PEG acceleration BIOS setting that by default OCs the bus to the card. (I found I had even more problems with it on)
One thing I did find is a few interesting comments on guru3d.com's forum about the 92.91 Forceware drivers. Apparently some users have been having OpenGL problems with the 80 series and 90 series, that seem to have dissappeared with 92.91
Im going to try 92.91 for a while and see if I can reproduce any problems.
