Sound system recommendations?

Post by []V[]essenjah »

Well, I've just hooked my PC into a normal household stereo system with a 3 disk CD changer which I also use with my X-Box and my DVD player and PS1 using a switcher. However, the shelf that holds this system is directly above my 17\" CRT's and I would like to up my monitors to 19\" LCD's and sell my current 17's in the shop where I work for a good deal with my current sound system. What will I put in it's place? Well, I was thinking about something with a lower profile so that I could move my current shelf up enough. So I was thinking about a small low-profile surround sound system of some kind. But I want one that will possibly perform better than my current stereo with more dimension and depth to it but low profile and fairly low cost. I just need enough power to sound good in a 13 1/2 ft X 8 ft room.

That's actually the sound system I was looking at getting last night. I may end up going for that one. I was just hoping for some info from people who have had experience with it and suggestions for possibly other sound systems. That is probably the one I'll go for though. :)

Lots of options here. Poor man's HT are the Logitechs.

If you want high current, look at purchasing a higher end sound card and feed the digital co-ax from it to a dedicated theater amp such as Denon or Yamaha.

Want thump for the bump? Velodynes are nice but Energy's are amazing. http://www.energy-speakers.com/v2/

Canadian company, well built and small. I'll put an 8\" energy up against almost any 10\" sub, and it will stomp it. I put a 10\" Energy with a nice Mission Speaker system in a very large home built on two + lots a while back, and it shakes the whole structure.

The new Owner is an audiophile and needed some education on the use of his new system. After reviewing the normal component selections and projector use, I introduced the HTPC part of the system with the music side of things.

His jaw literally dropped when he tested the limits of the Denon Amplifiers, (yes there are four) and the bass started pumping. Very happy client.

You could also spend a bit more in the Logitech line and go with the THX certified series, you won't be sorry.
