LCD monitors?

Post by []V[]essenjah »

I'm looking into a 19 to 20\" LCD monitor. I have a KDS 17\" I'm going to sell in the shop with my Boss' permission. I get my $55 back and he gets anything he so chooses to add onto it. I then spend that $55 on a brand new LCD :)

I was wondering what I should go for?

I need one that is good for gaming, 3D and 2D art, and watching movies.

I'm not sure about a widescreen as I have read that some games have issues with widescreen. However, isn't there a widescreen option for D3?

Get something out of the Viewsonic Pro series. Perfect for what you want. I got the VP930 and never regretted it. And yes, you can set a widescreen resolution for D3 w/ the cmd line switches -width, -height, and -aspect.

I have a Samsung 204b panel, dark level could be better and the horizontal viewing angle is a bit narrow, but other then that it is an excellent 20\" panel (not widescreen, native resolution is 1600x1200). I haven't checked it for gaming since I use a CRT for that, but it works fine for anything in windows and generally looks better then the CRT except for dark backgrounds.

Viewsonic has a 2ms 20\". I'd go for that for the gaming. Mine works well enough for games, but like all LCD's you're stuck at 60hz.

My Samsung looks great, but I have not put it up against any games.

The VX series is mainly targeted to gaming and lacks in all other areas. Color reproduction, contrast, and brightness are best in the VP series. 8ms and less is fine for gaming as well.
