Post by JMEaT »

My new laptop came with the C drive pre shared (C$) I am trying to remove the share but it says sharing is enabled for administrative purposes. When I disable it and reboot its shared again.... How on earth do I get rid of the dang share

Turn on simple file and folder sharing and it will go away. Otherwise the C$ share will always be there because it is a default administrative share, it naturally requires an administrator login and password to access though. Best thing to do is set a strong administrator password and change the administrator user name to something else, like admin8 or something.

if you aren't going to be sharing anything, then disable the Server and Workstation services, or uninstall the File and Print Sharing Service(or was it client for MS networks) from your network adapters.
