3D art, should be no problem. Gaming... It's an 8 MS LCD, how good are your eyes and reflexes? It depends on your vision to if you can use a LCD for gaming. Generally speaking, the worse your eyes and reflexes are the easier it is to use a LCD for gaming. While sharper eyes and reflexes will begin to detect LCD ghosting.

The panels themselves are all 12 MS at best. Nobody makes anything faster then that, even the viewsonic 1 MS LCD is a still 12 MS panel. These panels are able to change some color in whatever speed they say, but the grey to white to grey time is still 12 MS since nobody knows how to make it any faster. The 1 MS or 5 MS isn't a complete lie, but it is pretty close.

One big issue is that I really need a 20\" widescreen. 19\" monitors really aren't that big a step up from a 17\" for me. I use 19\" monitors at work and they really don't make things that much better. I found 20.1\" widescreens to be where it is at. They are fairly small vertically but they have a ton of space lengthwise. Perfect for 3D art.

It bothers me that all 19\" and 17\" LCDs except for the wide screen ones are 5:4 aspect ratio instead of the very standard 4:3 that virtually every CRT monitor ever made was. That is the whole reason I searched for a 20\" display when I needed a new monitor, 1600x1200 and 16\" by 12\" is a real 4:3 display. If I could have found a 4:3 1280x960 19\" LCD, I would have gotten one of those instead.
