we didnt study chip configurations, much less RAM chip types, the only thing in RAM we learned is:

SIMM, DIMM, FPMRAM, EDORAM, SRAM, SDRAM, DRAM, DDRRAM, DCDDR, TDRRAM.......... stuff like that

if you had a clue about setting up a web server, you could do it

only pics I have been able to find of the ATI card:

no they do not, they will have their own shaders that take much more advantage of the new PCI Express. but will still be compatable with games/apps that require it.

as for a web server, i do have one
http://societyofra.com/
an FTP and a mail server also

...but nothing new. At least one manufacturer (Gainward) started doing that back with the GF4 Ti's. Given the predictions that LCDs are going to start outselling CRTs soon it makes sense in the long run.

Could be almost anything - but given it's probably an engineering sample those pins are probably for debugging console, monitoring equipment etc.

the pic of the entire ATi card, those RAM Chips say "GDDR3", do they have DDR2 and DDR3 already out?!?!?!?

i must admit the ATi card looks beefy and is trying to outrun the NVidia NV40

Not sure about DDR3 but DDR2's been available for a while, the FX5800 had it IIRC, as did one of the Radeons (the original 9800 Pro?). Also, where the hell is the monitor connector on the R420? Are those pics even for real?

the r420 looks like it's no where near done.

If you look at it closely enough, you can see the solder points for the connectors. The solder points for the s-video connector is easily visible. They probably hadn't gotten around to soldering them on before those pictures were taken.

So, I've been out of the loop on bleeding edge graphics since I got a 9700pro over a year ago. What is the latest and greatest from ATI and Nvidia? How soon till the next cards come out?
