How do I submit a URL?

Can someone please tell me how I can submit my website to search engine such as Google, Yahoo, Lycos, etc.

There's a place on these search engine sites when you can (like here http://www.google.com/addurl.html), or just post the URL here and hope they all suck it up.

I think there's only two or three actual search engines these days anyways-- the others just borrow from each other.

1. you don't need to submit your url, if you have inbound links, the search engines will find it

2. It does you no good to post your url in most forums because most forums track their users using session id's, these are usually long strings at the end of the url which are then replaced by cookies, since search engines don't use cookies, they must use the session id's but since no search engine likes session id's then no search engine will go deeper than the first page of a forum which would result in it never finding your link in the forums
